Using Rest Mode in the Loftie App

Rest is a new Loftie feature that helps you disconnect from your phone, relax before bed, and wake up with more intention. It works by limiting access to distracting apps during four key moments of your day—so you can sleep better, and feel more present.

Rest Mode Overview

Rest has four customizable phases:

Relax

“Start winding down.”

Set a time when you’d like to begin unplugging (e.g. 9:00 PM). Relax blocks apps that tend to distract or overstimulate, helping you ease into the evening.

Sleep

“Tuck in for the night.”

Sleep mode blocks all selected apps to support deeper rest. It’s best scheduled 30–60 minutes before bed, so your mind has time to settle.

Rise

“Ease into your day.”

Rise gradually brings back select apps after you wake up (e.g. 7:00 AM). This soft start avoids the instant stress of a buzzing screen.

End

“Your day is in motion.”

At the time you set (e.g. 8:00 AM), Rest mode ends and full access to your phone is restored.

You can fully personalize the schedule and app blocks for each phase, and choose which days of the week Rest is active.

Note: Apps begin blocking on the Relax phase of your first scheduled day and stop after the Rise phase on the morning after your last active day.

FAQs

  • How do I turn Rest on or off?

Tap the Rest tab in the app, then select “Unlock” to temporarily disable it or “Clear” to reset your schedule.

  • Can I pick which apps are blocked?

Yes—you’ll see options to choose categories (like social media or games) during setup. These can be different for each phase.

You can also block apps individually, as well as specific websites. (Website blocking currently works only in Safari.)

  • What does “Max time” mean?

Max time lets you set how long you can use blocked apps (if you pause Rest). After that time, access is removed again.

  • What if I need to use my phone urgently?

You can disable Rest for a short time by selecting an unlock duration. To prevent impulsive unlocking, we’ve added a short breathing animation first.

  • My apps aren’t blocking—what should I do?

Make sure you’ve granted the Loftie app access to Screen Time permissions in your iPhone.

Go to Settings > Screen Time > App & Website Activity, and ensure Loftie is enabled.
